Purpose definition

We were all created with purpose to fulfil a purpose, but what is it 🤔 ?

As human beings, we do not like to feel pain, nor do we like to suffer, but throughout our entire lives, that is all we seem to feel, pain. Many people were born into struggling circumstances, while others were born into comfortable conditions, but despite the homes we were conceived into, we all have a calling on our lives to do and become someone greater. According to the University of Scranton, a whopping 92 percent of people who set New Year’s goals never actually achieve them, leaving just 8 percent who actually achieves their set goals. While majority of us do aim to fulfil that deeper meaning to our lives, ever so often we tend to settle with the cards we are dealt. But, why? Can we really accept if those cards that landed on the poker table are for us? Do we keep on playing until we win? Or do we just get mad, accept our losses, and stay mad (settling)?

I am really hoping that you thought about it, and decided to keep on playing until you win, or how does the famous saying go? Die trying? Yes! Keep playing until we win or die trying.

Purpose has a way of sticking to us though. No matter the road we travel or the decisions we make, it will be like an invisible arrow pointing us in a specific direction, but when we continuously make quick, selfish, bad decisions, I can surely say that we are heading in the opposite direction of our purpose, and that deep, nagging, tormenting feeling will surely follow. Then, frustration will set in, regret, depression, and the rest of the negative works.

I can refer to Moses in the bible, where we knew how his mother hid him by a river and he was later found by the Pharaoh’s daughter. Firstly, his mother acted by faith to do this and her faith resulted in him being found. He was then raised in royalty, by royalty. But Moses never felt as if he fitted in that lifestyle and therefore, I assume he started to seek his greater meaning (purpose), which we all know how that turned out. It was not easy to lead such a stubborn, rebellious set of people but that is what God called him to do, hence he led the Israelites out of bondage from the Egyptians.

Now, we may not be as empowered by God to part an entire sea to fulfil our purpose, but I am also sure that if Steve Jobs did not follow that inner desire to create Apple, he would not have.

So, I want to talk about a few hinderances as to why we might have not fulfilled our respective purposes yet:

  • Fear, always tend to show up when we want to do something new or make a bold step; and it causes us to entertain the thought of us failing, wasting our time and embarrassing ourselves. It’s aim is to strip away all the positivity out of the goal until we tend to not try at all. However, pray against that fear and make that move like yesterday. Time is ticking.
  • Stubbornness, every morning we will wake up with that new business idea or life changing decision on our minds, go throughout our day and go back to our beds, without writing it down, visualize or actualizing it. Deep down we know that this idea or decision could be it, but we still don’t act on it or entertain the thought because we probably can’t bother to. ‘I’m good with how my life is, I don’t need to do anything new.’ However, if I must add, a life without purpose or direction or constant growth isn’t much of a life at all, and our purpose changes hand in hand with our maturity.  Can we not be so stubborn with our thoughts, God may be leading us to do something and because we are uncertain or comfortable, we don’t do it. Stop that, today.
  • Waiting and Timing, our timing is all wrong. We may be rushing, or we may be lagging, this one is tricky, but, declaring over oneself is just as real as when you write it on the paper. Give yourself a timeline, say it out loud, and believe that it will happen. No one else knows your purpose, just you and God, so if you are not zealous about fulfilling your purpose, how is it going to materialize?
  • Doubt, Anxiety, Disbelief, Financial Constraints, Lack of Faith, Confusion, Negative People/Environment, Lack of Commitment, and the list of personal factors can and will go on.

We all know of a few celebrities/wealthy people that have killed themselves, right? So, when I talk about purpose, I am not just talking about becoming wealthy. I am talking about chasing that calling that will fill that empty void on the inside. The calling that will provide peace, joy, and the good stuff, and activate it with a consistent prayer life. Do not leave God out of it.

My Equation = Faith + Action = Result ➡ Purpose
